The Young Alumni Board of the University of North Georgia began its inaugural year during the 2013-2014 school year. The board consists of approximately 15 members who serve two-year terms and hold 4 annual meetings, two virtual and two in-person on one of UNG’s four campuses. Alumni eligible to join the board will be under the age of 40 and have graduated from North Georgia College and State University, Gainesville State College, or the University of North Georgia.
The goals of this group are to:
(1) Connect and engage with the University as a lifelong partner, advocate, and investor.
(2) Collaborate with the Office of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving to grow young alumni engagement and serve as a link between the administration and young alumni body.
(3) Serve as an advisory group to the University on behalf of young alumni.
(4) Foster participation from young alumni in University programming.
(5) Foster a culture of giving among young alumni.
(6) Assist in the identification, cultivation, and training of potential alumni leaders.
(7) Collaborate with and support the student organization STAT Students Today Alumni Tomorrow. The organization's focus is on building student awareness of alumni and building a bridge between students and young alumni. STAT is advised by the Office of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving.
Board members are expected to fulfill the following requirements:
• Attend bi-annual board meetings on one of UNG’s four campuses at their own expense.
• Serve as a member of one Young Alumni Board committee.
• Participate in regularly scheduled committee conference calls.
• Maintain contact with fellow board members and University staff.
• Attend events sponsored by the Young Alumni Board.
